Roknuzzaman Siddiky

Dr. Siddiky was born on the 9th April, 1974. Presently, he has been working as an associate professor and
chairman of the Department of Sociology of the Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) - a
public university located in the district of Noakhali which is in the south of Bangladesh. Prior to his joining
NSTU, he served as an assistant professor of sociology at Rajshahi College – a renowned university level
government college in Bangladesh. He obtained his Bachelor and Master's degrees in Sociology from the
University of Dhaka. After passing out from the Dhaka University, he joined RDRS, Bangladesh – a renowned
regional NGO working in the northern region in Bangladesh in November 2000 and worked till February, 2001.
On 14th December, 2002, he joined Dhaka Residential Model College, one of the reputed and well-known
educational institutions in Dhaka City as a Lecturer in Sociology and worked till 1st July, 2005. On July 02,
2005, he joined Rajshahi College as a 'Lecturer in Sociology' through 24th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS)
Examination.
In 2008, he went to Korea to pursue his doctoral study under Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP).
In 2012, he earned his PhD degree in HRD from the Graduate School of Techno-HRD, Korea University of
Technology and Education (KOREATECH), Cheonan, the Republic of Korea under the supervision of Prof. Dr.
Uh Soo Bong – a famous Korean labour economist and a HRD specialist. After completing his doctoral degree,
he came back to Bangladesh and resumed his service in Rajshahi College and worked there till April 15, 2018 as
an assistant professor of sociology. However, on April 16, 2018, he joined the NSTU as a faculty member in the
Department of Sociology. His areas of interest of study include: international development cooperation, aid
effectiveness, HRD, TVET, educational psychology, capacity building, globalization & development, global
poverty, marginalization, and so on.
